Looking for a house

Liz wants to buy a house. I wish we could buy one together but she is able to and I am not quite there yet. We have been looking now for a little while mostly at houses in the mid to upper 120's. We find one that looks pretty good on paper. After dealing with two realtors we get to see it. The house is ok but may need a little more work than we want. Than the thing we did not want to happen, happens. He shows us a great house, just listed this week and in great condition. The only thing is it is priced just a bit higher; 154k. Well, now the minds are racing, and we think what else is out there above where we have been looking but below this.

We go to yet another realtor (this one we know a little about) and he sends us one that looks decent on paper then we decide to drive by after a long day of driving by houses. It looks great on the outside and is priced between the others. So last night we got to go see it and it is wonderful. It is the perfect mix for us. It has the right upgrades with tile floor, new appliances, new roof, new hot water heater, and a pool with a great deck and back yard. It is move in ready yet has several places where upgrades are not needed but we could make over the years to truly transform the house into our tastes. The offer has been made and now we start the waiting.

Vegetative State

Ok, so I have not posted for a while. We have been busy watching Star Trek TNG (DVD). I have seen the whole series twice already so this is a third but I get to watch it and share it with Liz and that is a lot of fun. For the most part all I have been doing is working and watching TV. Turns out TiVo allows you to do whatever you want while your shows are on but also allows you to record more shows than you are normally able to watch. To stay caught up with TiVo and a few DVD TV shows we have to watch takes some serious time.

And then there were two…

Yes, another TiVo! I got the HD TiVo from Direct TV. So now I get to record in HD and SD in the living room and record in the bedroom on the old (SD) TiVo. There should never be a shortage of something to watch now. I do like that fact that since I TiVo all shows anyways that I now get to watch them in HD and without commercials.

DC Trip

It has been a few weeks now but my girlfriend, Liz, and I went to DC on 7/20. She was there earlier the week for a conference and I flew out to visit the city and some of her friends. We had a really great time. It is a nice city to visit from time to time. Get to visit the smithsonians and museums again to see what has changed or what we don't remember. I did learn, to my supprise that Liz is not much of a museum person; or more to the point she is less of a museum person than me. I had always felt guilty going to museums and only looking at a few of the really intersting things. I always thought I should be reading the signs and descritptions more or looking at more. Guess we are all different on how much of that we can take in at at time.

The best thing we were able to do was a segway tour around downtown DC. It was about about 4 hours long with a 45 min stop at at the WWII memorial area. The segways are so easy to ride and a lot of fun. It only take a few minutes to learn how to ride it and about 15 to 20 minutes of riding around to get really comfortable with turns, bumps, and traffic. By the end of the tour it was so second nature to ride that I basically thought of where to go and I went without going through the thought process of telling my body which way to move or bend to move the segway. Here are some pictures.
