Trip to Eureka Springs

Liz and I went to Eureka Springs last weekend for her friends wedding. The wedding was nice, the reception had good food but events were a bit bumpy; overall a good time. As for Eureka this would be my third time there which is enough for me. It is an interesting town. If you have no place better to be than I would recommend you check it out. But I’ll warn you that the ability to walk well is needed to do any sightseeing. Just a note I don’t remember the 1st time in Eureka all that much and the second two times I was there with no real purpose. So be sure to check out what all there is to do there and do some planning that will make it more enjoyable.

A few things...

This is the quick summary catch up of what I have been up to. I don’t blog as much as I should so this is a quick catch up of a few things.

1: We closed on the house. It was not easy or wonderful fun but we are glad it is over. And in this comment when I say “we” I mean Liz; my part in the house buying was to support and put up with Liz during her stress out and I think I did very will. So the house is mostly done we move in the last weekend in October.

2: I got a new monitor. I ordered a refurbished Samsung 21.3” LCD from newegg.com. The one I got was defective. Checked newegg.com and they would not let me return it. I called Samsung and told them no lies (or that it was refurbished) and they shipped me a brand new monitor. The only difference was they no longer made the 21.3” (which I knew that is why I ordered it refurbished, and because it was really cheep). So Samsung sent me a brand new 204T 20” LCD which costs a lot more than what I bought because it is a much better LCD even though it is one inch smaller. I have to say that this is the BEST looking LCD I have ever seen. If you have to get one this is the one to get. My only tip is LCD’s look 100% better if you run them in their native resolution. FYI – I emailed newegg.com and asked why I could not return and they sent me an RMA to return it.

3: Zoe is getting big (pictures to follow later). Kittens are cute and have a lot of energy but once fixed and a year old they start to agree to things like being held and petted. Up until lately you had to pretty much catch her in order to pet her at all. As for the others Simon is at the end of his life, or will be if he does not shut up; and Charlie continues to turn our house into his nest but he likes us more and allows us to pet him.

4: School is still going. I passed the first test and working on the second. As with most semesters things could be better and they could be worse.5: I finished watching “Firefly” the TV show on DVD. I really liked it for the most part. Still a little odd to have a Sci-Fi/western space show with no aliens. I have not yet seen the movie Serenity but will soon.

Wire

I want to wire the new house with cat5 cable so all rooms have wired network/internet access; as well as the wireless network access. I want to run two cat5e wires to each room. So I decided to get two rolls of cat5e in different color to make running them and connection them easer. Altex sells cat5e for $49 for 1000’ in blue, but for any other color it is $70. Should it not be possible to manufacture wire in different color without changing the price that much? I have looked all over and can’t find another color for the same price.
